Where’d We Come From
Psyched Apothecary was built with one mission: To put psychedelic plant medicine back where it belongs—in the hands of the people.
For too long, these sacred tools were propagandized, criminalized, and stripped from cultural memory. But they were never lost; they were only buried.
We’re here to excavate that wisdom. To reconnect you with the practices ancient cultures knew and pair them with the latest science and therapeutic protocols.
This isn’t about new age gurus or shamans… We don’t hand you a fish; we teach you how to fish so you can navigate your own plant medicine healing path with skill, safety, and sovereignty.
Yo, my name is Onjae. I’m a certified clinical herbalist (Vital Ways Institute) and psilocybin facilitator (Synaptic Institute), a writer of sorts, and a shredder till the day I die.
Why I Started Psyched Apothecary
Psychedelics changed my life. My relationship with them started in my teens, like many, curious and recreational.
But as I grew older and found myself battling treatment-resistant depression and a chronic illness (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome from mold toxicity and Lyme disease) that upended my life, they became something much deeper: powerful tools in my healing journey.
However, the path to wellness wasn’t easy; it was messy, confusing, and often unsafe. What should be sacred and accessible has been distorted.
Legal access is tangled in red tape:
How can a mushroom that grows wild in the forest be illegal?
How can a cactus in the desert become grounds for criminal charges?
The funny thing is, Mother Nature doesn’t criminalize (and neither should we).
But unfortunately, misinformation, propaganda, and taboo still reign. Scammers sell fake, or even dangerous, products. And far too many are being exploited by therapists, predatory shamans, and overpriced retreats.
Meanwhile, Big Pharma and medical institutions are working to engineer the soul out of psychedelics, turning sacred plant medicines into sterile, patented products. Gatekeeping the healing and profiting off the pain.
And worst of all? The people who need support the most—the ones suffering, searching, and stuck—often can’t afford it.
As a trained and certified psilocybin facilitator in Oregon, I witnessed this firsthand with the rollout of psilocybin services (under Measure 109). What began with genuine intentions is now being swallowed by the capitalist machine. These medicines are being co-opted, stripped of their roots, and re-packaged for profit (one psilocybin session averages from $1,000-$5,000).
That’s not okay. And it’s the reason why I created Psyched Apothecary, a community and science-backed education hub for psychedelic protocols, resources, and support. A space rooted in reverence for Earth-grown entheogenic medicine and the ethnobotanical traditions of the past, while driven by modern science, accessibility, and ethics.
Because no one should be priced out of their healing or constrained by a medical system that values profit over everything else. This is about reclaiming the medicine, before it’s hijacked…
And bringing psychedelics and other natural therapeutics back to the people.
To healing,
Onjae
